How does the vertical form-fill-seal machine work

Soonk packaging machine company explains the working principle and process of vertical form-fill-seal packaging machine.

A vertical form fill seal machine, also regarded as a VFFS, are used in almost every industry today. For good reason: They are fast, most economical packaging solutions that preserve treasured plant floor space.

In latest years, the vertical form-fill-seal machine has been developed to be drastically greater compact. It is properly for working with products that may be hard to manage manually, such as liquids, grains, chips and positive sorts of food.

VFFS machines are automated assembly line packaging systems with intermittent or continuous motion configurations. They inject the product into a molded package and then seal it. The packaging bags are made of flexible materials, usually heat-sealable plastic. Paper is also used and sealed with glue.

During operation, the product enters the VFFS system via the forming tube. The low friction roller transports the film to the forming area, while the forming ring moulds the flat film into a round film tube. Seal the edge of the tube with a vertical seal strip.

The film conveyor then pulls the film through the forming area. If the film is pre-printed, a alignment sensor is added to correct the film position, keeping the printed content in the correct position relative to the end of the package. The working principle of the intermittent movement machine is that, when the packing film moves, the bag is vertically sealed, and when the film stops, the bag is horizontally sealed. For applications where speed is not absolutely critical, intermittent motion machines are a perfect solution.

The working principle of continuous motion machine is that both vertical and horizontal bag sealing are carried out when the film moves. These packing machines are capable of operating at maximum speed and require reciprocating movement with sealing clamps.

 

Step 1: Form

The first step is to form a bag. Depending on the type of package, it is extracted from the stack or roll. A single web vertical form fills the sealing machine's work with a flexible material that is usually fed into a conical tube called a shaped tube.

The film is machined and sealed outside the forming tube to shape the package. The top and bottom of the bag are sealed horizontally and the back is vertical. Flexible applications are similar on dual web machines, but with two volumes, you can usually achieve twice the output.

Step 2: Fill

The next step in the process is filling, which is done by an interface filler (usually a multi-head scale or a screw filling machine). The program for this machine is for filling, so this step is completely automated. Pre-measured products are dispensed from the machine into the bag. The film is then sealed.

 

Step 3: Seal

Finally, the vertical filling and sealing machine seals the package so that the package can be shipped to a store purchased by the consumer. This process is usually followed by the filling process. The reason for this is to reduce the risk of contamination, which is especially important when packaging food.

In many of these machines, a horizontal seal the top of the package. If necessary, the final package will be transferred to the sealing process. In some cases, the package can be filled with nitrogen to increase the shelf life of the product.
